It might be time to get some more shelving. With that in mind, it’s important to get the measurements of your garage space right – even though that might sound obvious, you can’t be too careful. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

These measurements will help you plan how much shelving you can fit into your garage space and help you select the right size and type of shelving to purchase. From there you can build your storage solutions from an accurate and thought-out plan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To measure your garage space, follow these simple steps:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Clear your garage space:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Remove all vehicles, tools<\/a>, and other items that may be in the way. This will give you a clear idea of the space available to measure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Measure the length:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Use a measuring tape<\/a> to measure the garage’s length from the back wall to the door. Measure from the longest point, even if it’s not straight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Measure the width:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Measure <\/a>the width of your garage from one side to another side. Again, measure from the longest point.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Measure the height:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Measure the garage’s height from the floor to the ceiling. Measure in different spots to determine if the ceiling height is consistent throughout the garage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Measure the space of obstacles:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Measure any obstacles like pipes, ducts, appliances, and garage doors that may interfere with the installation of the shelving.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Record measurements:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Record all your measurements in a notebook and double-check to ensure you have recorded accurate measurements. To help with the layout, and to visualise the space, use floor marking tape<\/a> to outline the area for the shelving.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
